About Dr J Roscoe
General Practitioner, GP trainer and medical educator working in Leeds.
Profile
My principal professional interests are medical education, LGBT+ healthcare and mental health. I am particularly interested in how inclusive communication, thoughtful clinical education and supportive professional environments can improve experiences for both patients and healthcare professionals.
As a clinician, I regularly support people with a broad range of mental health and psychosocial concerns. I aim to provide care that is compassionate, non-judgemental and sensitive to each patient's identity, circumstances and individual needs.
I am committed to inclusive healthcare for LGBT+ people and recognise the importance of creating clinical environments in which patients feel heard, respected and safe. My interests include inclusive consultation skills, reducing barriers to care and supporting clinicians to communicate confidently and sensitively about identity, relationships, sexuality and mental health.
Alongside my clinical work, I provide supervision and education for GP registrars, pharmacists, medical students and other learners. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Professions Education.
